Margery Helen Fraser was my paternal grandmother. Her father was edward william. His father was Kenneth George (or George Kenneth?) and his father was Donald. Who was the first to Aus and where from and How? Is there a Fraser family tree that will help me?

Hi Everyone

I am proud to have been born a FRASER. I am trying to trace my family history but seem to hit the proverbial wall when looking for the date and how, my Great Grandfather came to Australia.

His name is Peter Fraser - he was born on 25 December 1849 at Forres, Morayshire in Scotland.

Must have been a bit of a romantic as he married Catherine Mcdonald in Australia on 14 February 1879 at Floradale in Victoria.

Peter and Catherine had 9 children -
Donald;
Catherine;
Mary;
Alexander;
Peter;
Christina;
Thomas;
Colin and
Ann.

As far as I know Catherine moved to Queensland and selected land for the children when her husband Peter died in 1916.

Could any family or anyone who knows how Peter came to Australia please let me know. If you would like more information, please let me know.

I would suggest scotlandspeople.gov.uk as the best site for Scottish family history but privacy laws prevent them releasing births beefore about 1910 or marriages before about 1930 so probably any information after those dates will have to come from your husband or his immediate family.

I think that James and Emma had other children as well as Edwin John 1869. Possibly were:
Albert J 1864, Florence H 1867, Alice Maud 1870, Emma Emily 1873, Alexander William 1874, Arthur H 1877, Arthur Howard 1880.

Hello List,
This is my first message.

I am looking for information on the descendants of David Fraser and Christina McKenzie, they came to Aust after their marriage in Glasgow 1837.
They settled in Stanley NE Vic between 1850 and 1858.
There children were David, b 1840, Christina 1842, Murdoch 1844, Katrina 1845, Agnes 1846, Kenneth 1848 and Jessie 1850 (My GG Mother) these were all born in Scotland. Alexander 1858 and Hector 1860, were born in Stanley Vic.

Would love to hear from anyone

Henry Fraser came to Tasmania sometime before 1864. He married Kesiah Ion nee Grace. He died in Launceston 1893. It is believed that he was going to claim an inheritance but he collapsed and died in Cleveland St. Launceston. (This is what I have heard). How much truth we do not know but he did collapse in Cleveland St as I have the inquest of that.
If anyone knows anything about Henry Goldsworth or Goldsmith Fraser I would be happy to hear from you. He is my great Grand father.
